DOrSU, TESDA-DOPI Forge Partnership for Skills Enhancement Training
The Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) and TESDA-Davao Oriental Polytechnic Institute (DOPI) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) today, March 25, 2024, at the University Boardroom to collaborate on Skills Enhancement and Skills Upgrading Training programs supporting technical education and skills development in the Province of Davao Oriental.
The MOA, signed by TESDA XI Regional Director Ashary A. Banto, duly represented by Vocational School Administrator Ms. Maria Magdalena P. Pomar, and DOrSU President Dr. Roy G. Ponce, intends to foster collaboration between the two organizations to improve students’ competency in food processing. According to the agreement, both parties will work together to design and carry out extensive training that complies with industry requirements and helps learners enter the workforce smoothly.
“Our door is open for any development. Programs like this are very welcome at our university,” President Ponce said during his message.
The collaboration, initiated by the DOrSU-BSAM Program, highlights both organizations’ dedication to advancing collaboration and addressing contemporary industry’s changing skill needs. By working together, DOrSU and TESDA-DOPI hope to give students the skills they need to succeed in today’s fast-paced labor market.
The three-year MOA, subject to extension, is a major step forward for Davao Oriental’s technical education and skill development. It emphasizes the crucial role of strategic partnerships in developing a knowledgeable and capable labor force necessary for sustainable socioeconomic development.
