Two DOrSU Professors participated in an international collaboration in conducting a scientific review on plastics and marine vertebrates in Southeast Asia as part of a United Kingdom-Singapore-funded project.
Dr. Lea A. Jimenez and Prof. Jovanie B. Garay co-authored the paper titled “Interactions between marine megafauna and plastic pollution in Southeast Asia,” which was recently published in the Science of the Total Environment.
The paper is a structured literature review of species of cartilaginous fishes, marine mammals, marine reptiles, and seabirds present in SE Asia, collating cases on a global scale to allow for comparison, coupled with a regional expert elicitation to gather additional published and grey literature cases.
