Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU), in partnership with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) of Mati, officially launched a collaborative project aimed at strengthening early childhood education in the city. The event, held today, April 7, at the Graduate School Library, marked the beginning of Project T.U.D.L.O. (Teaching Upgrades and Development for Learning Optimization). This initiative is designed to support child development workers and promote holistic learning for young children.
The launch brought together third-year Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) students, faculty members, and Child Development Workers (CDWs) from Mati. The main activity of the event was a seminar-workshop titled โEmpowering Child Development Teachers: Strengthening Health, Nutrition, Safety, and Family-School-Community Partnerships.โ The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge and teaching strategies of early childhood educators by focusing on key areas such as inclusive education, digital learning, and the integration of health and safety in early childhood programs.
The seminar-workshop was divided into two parts. The first session, held from 9:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M., featured Topic 1: “Building Inclusive and Supportive Early Learning Environments,” presented by Ms. Crispey B. Catundag, LPT, and Mr. Robie V. Catubigan, MAEd. The second topic of the morning session, “Hands-on Approaches to Inclusion in Early Childhood Learning,” was led by Mrs. Emellie D. Careรฑa, MEd.
In the afternoon, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M., the second part of the seminar-workshop commenced with Topic 3: “Parenting and Teaching in the Digital Age,” presented by Mr. Elthon Jake C. Buhay, LPT. The final session, “Promoting Healthy Digital Habits for Young Learners,” was led by Mrs. Dachel April L. Salimaco, LPT.
Project T.U.D.L.O. reflects a broader commitment between DOrSU and CSWDO to empower educators, reinforce community involvement, and ensure that childrenโs health, well-being, and academic success are prioritized. The project underscores the vital role of early childhood professionals in shaping the future of young learners in the City of Mati. By fostering a culture of learning and collaboration, this initiative is expected to have a lasting impact on the development of both educators and children in the community.
