Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) continues to solidify its leadership in impact assessment as it served as a resource institution for Davao de Oro State College (DDOSC) during a two-day training on the conduct of Impact Evaluation for Extension Programs and Projects held on March 5-6 at the Farmers Training and Research Center, Brgy. Maparat, Compostela, Davao de Oro. The activity aimed to enhance the capacity of DDOSC’s extensionists to assess the effectiveness and sustainability of various extension initiatives implemented by the institution.
Led by DOrSU’s Director for Extension, Dr. Mary Fil M. Bauyot, along with other Impact Assessment specialists from the university, Dr. Jeralyn N. Hemillan and Dr. Elven R. Bugwak, the training commenced with an orientation on impact assessment processes. Participants then applied their learning through a site visit to DDOSC’s Adopt-a-Barangay Tanod Program, allowing them to experience firsthand the practical application of impact evaluation methodologies.
This initiative builds upon DOrSU’s sustained efforts to refine impact assessment methodologies, evident in its ongoing partnership with Central Mindanao University (CMU) since 2023. These collaborations have consistently ensured that extension programs deliver measurable and meaningful outcomes for recipient communities.
In strengthening its role in impact assessment, DOrSU actively engages in capacity-building initiatives across institutions. In the last quarter of 2024, Dr. Janesa Pilar, one of DOrSU’s impact assessment specialists, provided key insights into evaluating and improving extension programs during the Capability Building for the Implementation of Extension Programs at Caraga State University (CSU) in Butuan City. Such engagements underscore the University’s commitment to refining assessment methodologies and strengthening institutional competencies in impact evaluation.
Moving forward, DOrSU and DDOSC plan to formalize their collaboration through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), which aims to develop a pool of impact assessment experts within DDOSC and establish structured capacity-building programs to enhance the College’s ability to assess and improve its extension projects.
Anchored on its Regenerative Futures vision, DOrSU remains steadfast in its commitment to being a forerunner in transformative extension work, fostering regenerative and future-ready communities through robust impact assessment initiatives.
