DOrSU, CSC hold Ethics Seminar for University Employees

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU), through its Human Resource and Development Services (HRDS) Office, conducted a seminar titled “Upholding Ethical Governance in Everyday Public Service” on April 29 at the Graduate School Library.
The seminar, held in collaboration with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) – Davao Oriental Field Office, aimed to reinforce ethical standards among faculty and administrative staff from various university offices. The activity forms part of the HRDS Learning and Development Program, which seeks to enhance professional conduct and accountability within the academic institution.
Focusing on Republic Act 6713, also known as the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, the seminar covered key topics including conflict of interest, political neutrality, the responsible handling of gifts, and the proper use of public resources.
Senior Human Resource Specialist Bob Timothy M. Ebojo and Director Edna A. Plata of the CSC Davao Oriental served as speakers during the event. They highlighted the importance of applying ethical standards in everyday university operations, especially in the context of state universities and colleges (SUCs), where educators and staff often face unique professional and moral dilemmas.
The event served as a meaningful step toward strengthening DOrSU’s culture of ethical public service and responsible governance within the academic community, also in support of the DOrSU administration under the leadership of University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce, whose vision emphasizes the vital role of people in realizing the university’s aspiration to become a Regenerative Futures University. This aligns with the institution’s thrust to nurture ethical, empowered, and future-ready public servants.
Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, citing its relevance in strengthening the culture of integrity and responsible governance in public service.
