In a coordination meeting held today, December 27, University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce engaged in a fruitful discussion with Dr. Yusuf A. Sucol, Project Leader of the 1HEALTH Project spearheaded by the University of the Philippines Los BaΓ±os – School of Environmental Science and Management (UPLB-SESAM). The meeting centered around the participation of the Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) in the implementation of the 1HEALTH Project within the Province of Davao Oriental, slated to commence in the first quarter of 2024.

1HEALTH, which stands for One Human Environmental Animal Linkage for Total Health, is a nationwide research initiative to support the Philippine national surveillance and control programs for African Swine Fever, Avian Influenza, and Antimicrobial Resistance through a One Health Systems Approach. This project is funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).

Present during the meeting were Davao Oriental Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Eric R. Dagmang, DOrSU Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, Dr. Misael B. Clapano, DOrSU Research Director Dr. Lanie B. Lareano, and faculty-researcher Dr. Phoebe Nemenzo.
