DOrSU Alumni Association Donates ₱150,000 for Canopy Tents

The Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) Alumni Association, Inc. has formally turned over a donation amounting to ₱150,000.00 to DOrSU, earmarked for the installation of canopy tents that will strengthen the university’s climate adaptation initiatives and enhance the welfare of its academic community.
The donation was formalized through a Deed of Donation executed by Alumni Association President Rotchie M. Ravelo, MPA, EnP, and University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce. Also present during the turnover ceremony were Dr. Desiderio R. Apag III, Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education and Chairperson of the DOrSU Board of Regents, Dr. Alicia R. Astronomo, Vice President of the Alumni Association, and other association officers.
Under the terms of the deed, the funds will be used exclusively to procure canopy tents intended to provide shade and shelter for faculty, staff, and students amid harsher weather conditions. The project also covers the establishment of covered walkways between buildings and the creation of shaded outdoor areas that can be used for learning and student activities.
University President Ponce expressed gratitude on behalf of DOrSU, saying that the donation reflects the alumni’s enduring commitment to their alma mater and their solidarity with the current generation of students.
Beyond the immediate improvements the tents are expected to bring, the initiative highlights the Alumni Association’s continuing role as a partner of the university, backing campus priorities and reinforcing the ties between graduates and the institution they once called home.
